Town Manager

Kevin Sweet began his tenure on February 14, 2018. As the Chief Executive and Administrative Officer, Mr. Sweet oversees all executive and administrative functions of the town and manages the day-to-day activities of the organization. He has worked closely with the Select Board to achieve its goals in the areas of leadership, communication, finance, economic development, and community infrastructure. Mr. Sweet's fiscally-minded leadership has resulted in a balanced budget, stable economic outlook and an eye toward innovative problem-solving. Working closely with the finance team he has been able to establish a sustainable financial outlook for the Town, which includes ongoing analysis of expenditures and revenue. He takes great pride in his managerial abilities to consistently meet deadlines, develop strategic plans, garner relationships with constituents and provide solutions for challenges facing the community as it embarks on current and future initiatives. In addition, he serves as the Director of Emergency Management responsible for the overall command of the municipality’s resources during emergencies.
Mr. Sweet has over two decades experience working in local government and joined Wrentham after serving almost ten years with the Town of Maynard, Massachusetts as Town Administrator for five of those years, and Assistant Town Administrator / Executive Director of Municipal Services prior. He started his municipal career with the City of Taunton, Massachusetts serving as Assistant Executive Director of Public Health. He has served in various management capacities as a local government leader and consultant in diverse communities of various size. As a professional practitioner, executive, educator and consultant with extensive experience and education in the field of municipal management, emergency management, public health and organizational leadership. He has held Adjunct Faculty and Guest Lecturer positions in both undergraduate and graduate level management programs at various institutions throughout New England.
Mr. Sweet is an active member of several professional associations and serves on the Board of Director’s for the Massachusetts Municipal Association, Executive Committee Member of the Massachusetts Municipal Management Association, Advisory Board Member of Norfolk County, Member of the Public Safety Chiefs/Emergency Management Leadership Committee, Member of the Southeast Regional Homeland Security Advisory Council and the Graduate Education Advisory Board of the International City/County Management Association. He is a Governor appointed Commissioner of the Local Government Advisory Commission, Commissioner/Treasurer of the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission and the Massachusetts Municipal Association designee on the Board of Building Regulations and Standards’; Building Official Certification Committee.
Mr. Sweet is an ICMA-Credentialed Manager, and holds licenses as a national Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian, Massachusetts Registered Sanitarian and Massachusetts Certified Health Officer. He is a doctoral candidate with the Helms School of Government at Liberty University, pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration. He earned a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Financial Management from Norwich University, Master of Science in Emergency Management and Bachelor of Science in Marine Safety & Environmental Protection from Massachusetts Maritime Academy – The Commonwealth’s Leadership University. In addition, he holds a Graduate Certificate in Local Government Leadership and Management from Suffolk University’s Moakley Center for Public Management and a Graduate Certificate in Public Health Preparedness: Bioterrorism and Disaster Management from Penn State University College of Medicine.
