New Property Owner Important Notice

ATTENTION NEW PROPERTY OWNER - IMPORTANT NOTICE

The Board of Assessors are required by Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 59, Section 11 to assess the taxes to the owner of record as of January 1st of the year preceding the fiscal year for which the tax is assessed. As a result, you will not receive a tax bill in your name for 1 to 1-1/2 years. State law, makes it incumbent on the taxpayer to locate the tax bill and pay it on time. Bills not paid by the due date accrue interest at the rate of 14% from the due date. If you do not receive a bill at least 15 days prior to the due dates noted below it is your responsibility to contact the Treasurer-Collector’s Office at 508-384-5413 to obtain a copy of the property tax bill.

The Town of Wrentham is on a quarterly tax billing system for Real Estate and Personal Property. There are two mailings for the tax bills. Preliminary tax bills are mailed at the end of June and are due August 1st and November 1st. Actual tax bills are mailed at the end of December and are due February 1st and May 1st.

The Town of Wrentham Board of Assessors assesses new construction up to June 30th. New construction will be fully taxed if completed between January 1st and June 30th.

The purchaser should contact the Water Department at (508) 384-5477 to be sure the Department has the proper mailing address for the water usage bills. Water usage is billed twice a year after the usage period by billing district and the bills are payable at the Treasurer-Collector’s Office.
