Published on May 18, 2023 13:03

If you call Wrentham home, chances are you're familiar with Sweatt Park, Sweatt Fields, Sweatt Hill, and Sweatt Beach. But have you ever wondered why these landmarks are named after William Sweatt? Are you familiar with the significant contributions he has made to our town?

You're invited to join the 350th Committee on Saturday, May 20th, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (rain date May 21st) at the Wrentham Town Common to learn about Wrentham's history.

There will be free ice cream and tacos with live music! Meet members of the Historical Commission, Pond Home, Sohoanno Garden Club, Lions Club, Holly Club, Knights of Columbus, Wrentham Police and Fire, plus others sharing their history. There will even be an interactive exhibit by the Cultural Council, "Tales of the Fiske", at the Old Fiske Museum!

To honor the Brothers of the Brush, who wore pins on their tricorn hats during the 300th Anniversary in 1973, free Sweatt pins will be given out! They will look great on backpacks or your very own tricorn hat!
